There are a lot of questions about this procedure. First, this young person is very pain tolerant for an obvious abscess drainage without anestheitc. Wow. What is that lesion? A mole with a lot of hair growing out of it makes me think ingrown hair/infection? I’m truly amazed at how gently she is doing a procedure that would make most of us scream. It’s not my call to make but wouldn’t a drain for a couple of days be a good thing? The infection is so deep and large one wouldn’t necessarily want it to close again until all the pus and infection are gone. It’s a debate in medical circles, to drain or not to drain (Penrose or iodophor). It depends mostly on what that lesion is and why it’s there. I wish this young person freedom from pain and speedy healing. It’s got to feel better with all that gunk out of his face and jaw area.
